The Lions Code of Ethics and Purpose

Service

The people of Crewkerne and surrounding area generously support the fund raising projects carried out by the club. We very often get asked " But where does the money go?..."

Well the answer is the cost of running the club comes from our membership subscriptions the rest of the money raised can therefore go directly to the projects that we are supporting at that time.

Over the past few years Crewkerne Lions have donated to the following organisations

Children's Hospice Southwest precious lives appeal :- Over £5000

This project aims to fund a third Children's hospice in the South West of England. The new hospice will be in Cornwall and will compliment the existing two units in Somerset & Devon. Even with the 3rd hospice it is estimated that hospice care for children in South West England will still be considerably short of the requirement. We are about to add to this total buy £2500 from our 2009 Kubota run proceeds.

Alzheimer's Society

This year the proceeds from the clubs fun weekend will go to The Alzheimer's society and other      lions charities.

Lions International Australian Fire Disaster

When the terrible bush fires struck parts of Australia in 2009 among the many killed were 20 members of Lions clubs. As part of the disaster relief  fund Crewkerne Lions collected in Faulkland Square  and raised over £500 in one weekend.

Malawi Student.

Each year we provide funding to assist in the education of a student in Malawi.

Camp Kenya

Stephenie Bussell was our youth ambassador a couple of years ago and recently took on the challenge of spending 3 months in Mukha near Mombassa in Kenya as part of the camps international project. She spent her time working with the children of the area, rebuilding school buildings, building toilets, working with the rangers in Tsvao National Park. To attend camp Steph had to raise over £3500 to cover her flights and accommodation in Kenya. Crewkerne Lions were delighted to support Stephenie in her ambition to attend the camp which she did from September to November 2009. The club provided her with some much needed help with her fundraising efforts Well done Steph!
